# Verify a Coyotiv School certificate.

We sign every certificate we issue. Add one with its signature to check that it's ours and that nobody has changed it. The check runs in your browser, so the files never leave your computer.

## Verify it with your own tools

We sign the SHA-384 hash of the PDF with ECDSA on the P-384 curve. Every certificate’s signature is at its link, ending in `.sig` instead of `.pdf`:

```text
https://coyotiv.com/school-of-software-engineering/certificates/sose-<id>.pdf
https://coyotiv.com/school-of-software-engineering/certificates/sose-<id>.sig
```

With our public key, OpenSSL checks it like this. It prints `Verified OK` when the certificate is ours and unchanged.

```sh
openssl dgst -sha384 -verify public.pem \
  -signature sose-<id>.sig sose-<id>.pdf
```
