6 Reasons to join Coyotiv
You know it, you have made a decision. You want to become a software engineer and embark on a whole new journey in your life! But how do you do it? There are many different ways to become a software engineer. A traditional college education isn’t necessarily the right choice for everyone, and not everyone has the time or resources to spend years learning before they enter the workforce.
Let us take the “complicated” out of finding the right course and discover what might be just the thing you are looking for. Here are some reasons why we should go on this ride together:
You will be learning from seasoned software engineers who are also AMAZING experienced educators.
Instructors at Coyotiv are both software engineering veterans and seasoned educators. They not only understand, love, and create tech but they are experienced in sharing their knowledge while adapting to the needs of the student. As they have been working in the industry for a long time, you will be making use of their insights and turn those insights into valuable assets for rest of your career.
Who’s guiding you through this journey: Armağan Amcalar
Armağan Amcalar is the founder, managing director and the lead instructor at Coyotiv GmbH. He is a master software craftsperson who entered the craft of programming over 20 years ago. He’s founded and led multiple startups and innovative products. He has a strong academic research background and possesses several awards in engineering and entrepreneurship. He also teaches principles of software engineering in non-profits and universities. Now is the time he is transferring all of this hands-on industry experience to our Coyotes (students)!

Small classes will ensure that you receive enough attention
To support the needs of a larger student body and a wider array of programs, many universities and courses have turned to automation and standardization. This has led to a culture where more students are taking classes from teaching assistants, and professors have limited time to spend with students outside of class.
We believe that small class sizes are beneficial to both our students and our instructors. Because of small class sizes (15 students at max), the focus is on the learner and our instructors can be flexible to meet the needs of each student individually.
We want everyone to feel comfortable contributing their ideas in class, or asking questions when they need help. Many people feel less intimidated in smaller classes, allowing them to ask more questions and participate in discussions. We know from experience that it is especially important for our students who are coming from a background that’s traditionally underrepresented in tech, be it heritage, gender, orientation…
This can make all the difference when you’re working on a project and need some extra support.
You will become a Coyotiv apprentice and learn from the masters of the software craft
Software engineers create art. In a way, they are very similar to master carpenters who create hand-crafted furniture. Just as the master artisans, master software engineers have their styles, and they expand those styles into schools. They teach the path of development to their apprentices.
Gaining enough experience and learning everything from scratch takes tens of years. Yet finding a good master and being a hard-core apprentice takes only a few years. We encourage our students to learn from mistakes; focuses on hands-on experience, and build out practical experience. This teaching model suits software engineering so well, we haven’t seen any other approach perform better.
By the end of the course, you will not only be a full-stack software engineer, but you will also have improved your critical thinking and problem-solving skills, thanks to our revolutionary model.
You may get hired even before finishing the course
Job search in a new industry can be daunting regardless of your skills and knowledge level. At Coyotiv, we believe that anyone can learn how to code and become a software engineer. However, it takes a lot more than just teaching technical skills for someone to make a successful career out of them. Coyotiv won’t leave you alone while you are building your future career. We assist you with building up your resume and cover letter, which jobs to apply and how you are expected to behave in interviews.
Half of our students found a job right after the program (some of them even before finishing the course). Many students secure a job within a month of completion, as we support their job hunt through career coaching sessions, 1-on-1 mentorship, and mock interviews.
Upon completion, you will get a certificate of graduation from Coyotiv School of Software Engineering showcasing your participation and accomplishment. You will have graduated with a solid project on your GitHub, ready to apply for junior developer roles with your portfolio. As part of your portfolio, you also build your own projects that you have come up with, planned, and developed.
The fact that our students publish their own open source libraries before graduating and contribute back to the community makes us extremely proud. This does not look bad on their job application, either.
You will have the flexibility you need
One of the biggest hurdles to learn something new is finding the time to do it—it’s even harder when you’re working full-time or worried about your unemployment.
A remote software engineering course can be great for students who can’t physically attend a campus. It’s also a great solution for people who need flexibility, but don’t want to sacrifice the quality of education. Remote courses are better than their on-campus counterparts because instructors can focus on individual students’ needs at all times.
At Coyotiv, we believe more and more tech jobs will move remotely, eliminating all physical constraints such as location and commuting. Having worked in various remote scenarios we built a framework that you can enjoy the best of two worlds: The comfort and flexibility of online classes with the real human connections of classroom learning.
Throughout the course, our teachers will be there for you every step of the way. Besides live lectures, you will be sure to get a response from our Slack community whenever you have a question, and you will have 24/7 coding support.
You can also choose between the two remote programs: Self-paced and full-time. If you are able to commit your whole day to the course, you should sign up for the full-time course. If you are a self-learner or someone who needs to be in control of their time for any reason, self-paced is the right choice for you. Our self-paced program is the same quality as the full-time one. So it’s up to you to choose the one that fits your schedule.
If you are still on the fence about which one will work best for you after looking into the schedules and FAQs on the website, you can opt to book a call with us.
Inclusivity and diversity are integral to every conversation
Imagine a world where anyone can access quality education and thrive in a supportive environment. Where bias is no longer an issue and not only everyone has their seat at the table, but also they have the power to flip the table. Part of our mission at Coyotiv is to make tech education accessible to anyone—especially underrepresented groups… We want to build an inclusive culture to set a new standard for our industry.
At Coyotiv, diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral to every conversation we have both in our software engineering courses and team meetings. We demonstrate our commitment to these values with diversity scholarships, transparent and equal pay policy, and constantly improving the gender ratio (44% of Coyotes in our team are women) in the team. Our aim is to create an environment where everyone has an equal chance of success.
So far, our projects with Women TechMakers Berlin, such as our JavaScript Crash Courses, are designed to foster equal opportunities for women to become software engineers. We have supported many women to start their careers in technology.
If you’re ready to start your new journey in tech, we welcome you to Coyotiv and can’t wait to have you on the team. We are strong believers in lifelong learning and hope that we can help you pursue this new path you have chosen. You can apply now or book a call with one of our team members!
